This section explains the Calorie Intake Calculator
This calorie intake calculator uses two important inputs to calculate daily calorie needs namely :
1. The BMR (basal metabolic rate) of the individual
2. The daily amount of activity performed by the individual
The calorie intake calculator multiplies a certain activity factor into the BMR based upon the level of activity. According to the Harris Benedict Equation, the activity factor is multiplied to the BMR according to the following activity levels:
Little or no exercise:
The calorie calculator multiplies BMR x 1.2
Light exercise 1-3 days/week:
The calorie calculator multiplies BMR x 1.375
Moderate exercise 3-5 days/week:
The calorie calculator multiplies BMR x 1.55
Hard exercise 6-7 days a week:
The calorie calculator multiplies BMR x 1.725
Very hard exercise & physical job:
The calorie calculator multiplies BMR x 1.9
Very hard exercise twice a day:
The calorie calculator multiplies BMR x 1.9
The calorie intake calculator is also loosely referred to as a calorie burn calculator since it calculates the amount of calories burned each day based upon an individual's activity level.
This calorie intake calculator is very accurate. It is a well known fact that people who are very lean (muscular) need more calories, so the calorie calculator will under-estimate calorie needs of such individuals.
